9am - 10am: Records Management and Data Entry
10:30am - 11:30am: Working with Photos and Archival Material
12pm - 1pm: How to Handle, Documents, Photograph, and House Objects
We need help completing our collection inventory, rehousing objects, and populating our database with our collection records. On Saturday, April 21st we are holding a series of three training workshops for folks interested in learning how to help us with our collection and archive project.
In each class, we will have a hands-on workshop to help each of our volunteers feel confident in helping with our various collections projects. Our goal is to have all of our collection documented, entered into our PastPerfect Museum Software, and eventually indexed online so that anyone in the world can view and enjoy our collection.
9 am to 10 am: The first class is Records Management and Data Entry. This workshop includes work that will require using a computer and Excel software. If you are interested in helping with our records management, but you are not comfortable using computers, there are still opportunities for volunteers to help with our records that do not require the use of a computer.
10:30 am to 11:30 pm: The second class is Working with Photos and Archival Material. In this workshop, volunteers will learn how to scan historic photos, and document and rehouse both photos and other archival materials. While part of the workshop does utilize computers, this training also has lots of opportunities for volunteers who do not wish to use a computer.
12 pm to 1 pm: The third and final class of the day is on How to Handle, Document, Photography, and House Objects. This workshop will not include any computer work, however, there is a physical component. Volunteers must be able to walk up and down a flight of stairs as our collection is stored in the basement of the museum building.
